Ecological design and build

We make sure the design is fit for purpose. Ecological architectural design or green building is more than just a random collection of environmental friendly technologies. They require complete attention to the life cycle impacts caused by resources used in the building and also the impact of the building itself during its life time.

We apply the science behind sustainable techniques so we can delivery truly eco buildings.

More than this we want to place environmental and social sustainability at the core of our practices and professional responsibilities. We recognise the social cultural and economical interdependence of all of us and is only throught partnerships, equity and balance among all parties that we can achieve true sustainability.

We do care and hand-hold you through the environmentally friend way. Based on knowledge and practical experience.

We are sure to achieve the best performance in the most cost-effective sustainable construction trough:

# CO2 emissions reduction advice;

# EcoHomes, BREEAM and the Code [Competent person];

# Bioclimatic design;

# 3D Daylight Simulation;

# Green Specification;

# Protection and enhancement of biodiversity;

# Renewables and low carbon technologies;

# Waste management, recycling and reuse;

# Water efficiency, recycling and reuse;

# Water flood management and strategic issues;

# Environmental Impact Assessment [EIA];

# Environmental Management Systems [EMS];

# Whole life cycle assessment.

Below are some exemples of the application of our principles

Recycled insulation

The use of recycled materials helps to reduce burden on landfill. Loose fill cellulose is safe to install, is recyclable, biodegradable and has a low embodied energy. It also perform better than mineral wool(MW) and glass wool(GW)when dampness is a concern.

Second hand bricks maintain the aesthetic of the building, saves on resource, embodied energy and the planners love it

High efficient argon filled double glazed units can reduce heat losses through fenestration by more than 100%. While single glazed units present Uvalue in the order of 5 W/m2.K, modern double glazed units can easily achieve Uvalues under 1.5 W/m2.k. Moreover modern double glazed units have factory fitted draughts excludes minimising heat losses and thermal bridges.

Graywater treatment

Specifing the right system can reduce resources use and costs. Graywater systems uses shower and bath water to flush the toilet. It takes the same space as a concelled cistern and can be installed when up grading an old bathroom

Underfloor heating spread plates

Underfloor heating spread plates made of aluminium although more costly are fully recycled, they spread the heating more evenly underneath floor coverings. It allows three forms of heat flow to take place: conduction, convection and radiation. It also make reuse of pipes straight forward at the end of the design life.

Airtightness retrofit

Refurbishments and renovations are ideal opportunities to upgrade the fabric of the building. One of the main concerns with passive and low energy design is to increase the buildings fabric air-tightness. Reduced air leakage = increased energy efficiency = money saved

The use of certified wood must be imperative. Is the only way we can guarantee the next generation to come.
